For Immediate Release: Thursday, June 2, 2022 – 3:30 p.m.


Pottstown, PA (June 2, 2022): The investigation into the explosion that occurred on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 453 Hale Street in the Borough of Pottstown remains active. The Pottstown Police Department, ATF Philadelphia Field Division, and Pennsylvania State Police are working jointly to determine the cause of the explosion.


Since this is an active investigation, no further comments can or will be made at this time by the Borough of Pottstown or Montgomery County Department of Public Safety officials. Future updates will be provided via press release when available.


Information for Pottstown Borough Residents


Property inspections within the affected area are complete. If your property is OUTSIDE of the affected area, inspections are being offered as a courtesy to residents. In order to determine the full assessment of damage that may exist on a property, residents are required to go through their homeowner’s insurance company.


Contact the Licensing and Inspections Department at or via phone at (610) 970-6520 Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to schedule an appointment for a courtesy inspection. All inquiries from Borough residents must include a name, property address, and contact information.
