Zoning
The Licensing and Inspections Department has established a comprehensive zoning plan to set the framework for land use and growth, encourage sustainable residential and commercial development, as well as preserve historic, architectural, and cultural assets within the Borough of Pottstown.
The Department is responsible for administering planning and zoning applications, including subdivisions, land development, and any related requests for relief specific to the zoning ordinance in the form of a variance, special exemption, an appeal from determination of the zoning officer, a challenge to the validity of the ordinance, and any other appeal from a body or agency of the Borough charged with administrative authority.
The Department also provides support to various boards and committees including the Historic Architectural Review Board, (HARB), Shade Tree Program, and the Blighted Property Review Committee. The Department provides periodic regulatory review and policy development over a wide range of subjects and maintains records of community land use information. In addition, the Department is responsible for the development and management of the Borough's Comprehensive Plan.
