Hometown Holidays starts Saturday 11/29/2014 with Small Biz Day. There are many activities planned throughout downtown Pottstown each weekend until Christmas. Please visit the PDIDA website at for more information.

11th Annual New Year’s Day Celebration and Bonfire At Riverfront Park

Help us to ring in the New Year by joining us for a Bonfire at our scenic Riverfront Park. Take a winter stroll and enjoy the vista as we gather along the banks of the Schuylkill River. This annual get-together is growing in popularity and has fast-become an annual holiday tradition in Pottstown. An open-air bonfire, winter stroll and sing along are just a sampling of the activities planned. Make it your resolution to join us in the park. Pork Hot Dogs with Sauer Kraut, drinks and other goodies will be available to ensure that you have good luck throughout the year. These items are available for a nominal fee.

Join us at 140 College Drive for the 7th Annual, Pottstown Polar Bear Club’s – Ceremonial New Year’s Day dip in the frosty and frigid Schuylkill River. (Weather/river conditions permitting)

• Registration for the Polar Bear Swim 9:00 am – 10:00 am
• Meet and Greet Card Activity 9:00 am – 10:00 am
• National Anthem 10:00 am
• Bonfire Lighting 10:00 am
• Christmas Tree Toss 10:00 am
• Polar Bear Swim 10:30 am

7th Annual Polar Bear Swim - ‘Tis the Season to be Freezin’

Date & Time: January 1, 2015 10:30am (registration from 9-10am)
Place: 140 College Drive in Riverfront Park
Cost: Nothing up front – The Polar Bears will pay for it later

Other Activities include: Words of encouragement from the Mayor, Red Hot Chili Peppers (the vegetable, not the band) Canned Music, and any other odd activity we can muster.

All Polar Bears are required to sign a participation and indemnification waiver.
Now accepting participants ages 16 & 17 with adult authorization.

For Good Luck - Pork (Hot Dogs) and Sauerkraut will be available for $2.00. Hot Chocolate or Coffee for $1.00.

All participants must read and sign the waiver witnessed by event staff in order to participate. Participants must be 16 years of age on or before January 1, 2015 to partake in this activity. Children under the age of 16 are strictly forbidden. Youth ages 16-17 may only participate with the signature of a legal guardian witnessed by event staff. Identification will be required.

Parks and Recreation provides educational and recreational programming for all ages at an affordable cost. In addition, we maintain and manage the 13 parks in the borough. Park facilities include the Fountain of Youth Spray Park, Trilogy BMX, a skateboard park, a miniature golf course, ball fields, picnic pavilions, tennis courts, Riverfront walking trail, the Bark Park, and age appropriate playground equipment.
